Helmand’s security situation improved: Seddiqi

KABUL: The spokesman for interior ministry, Seddiq Seddiqi has said that the security situation in Helmand province had been improved.
Addressing a press conference here the other day, Seddiqi said that the cleanup operations against Taliban are going on in Khanshin, Nawzad and Sangin districts.
He also added that the Taliban had faced heavy defeat in Helmand province and they have lost their operational capability.
Seddiqi also said that two senior Taliban commanders had been arrested in Nimroz and Nuristan provinces, saying the captured Taliban commanders include Mawlawi Abdul Rashid the shadowy governor of Nimroz and Fazal Akbar the senior Taliban commander in Nuristan and they would soon be referred to judiciary for trial.
