KABUL: A spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a news conference yesterday said preparations have been taken for Heart of Asia member countries’ foreign ministers’ conference determined to be held on August 29 in Tianjin city of China.
Speaking to journalists in the news conference, MoFA spokesman Ahmad Shekib Mustaghni said, “A delegation led by head of regional cooperation for MoFA Ms. Roya Rahmani has recently visited China to talk related to context of the conference’s declaration, adding heart of Asia member countries conference-Istanbul process is one of the most significant incidents in the region held annually under the joint chairmanship of Afghanistan and one of Istanbul Process member countries.”
MoFA spokesman further said in series of preparations taken for holding the conference, a session would be held this week in China with participation of high-ranking officials for the Istanbul Process member countries.
Heart of Asia member countries conference-Istanbul Process was set up in November, 2011 with initiative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and support of the regional countries. It is worth mentioning that Heart of Asia member countries are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, UAE, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and Kirghizstan.
