KABUL: While the independent election commission (IEC) is going to announce the preliminary results of June 14 presidential run-off, chairman of the commission Dr. Ahmad Yusuf Nuristani said that votes in 1900 polling stations will be inspected. Nuristani, according to BNA has said to media that the IEC in its bid to ensure transparency has decided to review the votes in 1900 polling stations in 30 provinces and separate the clean from the fake one. He also said that the process would take four to five days. Nuristani also said that the election commission had not decided to announce the preliminary results, adding decision in this field will be taken within couple of days.
Some officials with the IEC have confirmed that representatives of the election body have gone to provinces to review the votes of 1900 polling stations and report the IEC headquarters in few days and the process can delay announcing preliminary results of the runoff vote. The Kabul Times
