2 Civilians, 4 Taliban Insurgents Killed in Kunduz

KABUL: At least two civilians and four Taliban insurgents, including a militant leader, were killed in three military operations in the northern Kunduz province on Saturday, officials said. Many other insurgents and an Afghan soldier were wounded during the operations. The three separate operations are conducted in the districts of Khan Abad, Chahar Dara and Qala-e-Zal to drive out the Taliban ahead of the June 14 presidential runoff, said a spokesman for Kunduz police department. A day earlier, eight Taliban insurgents were killed and 18 others were wounded in an Afghan-led operation and two Afghan security soldiers also were injured in the province. There are dozens of military operations ongoing across the country ahead of the mid-June elections to ensure a greater turnout. The Kabul Times
