Government supports Afghanistan banks, President Karzai

KABUL: Presided over by Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, a session was held Wednesday at presidential palace to discuss related to released report about banning financial transactions with Afghanistan banks by Chinese banks. In the session held with participation of relevant economical sector ministers, chairman and deputy of the Afghanistan Bank, heads and officials of private banks, various issues as solution of problems existed in Afghanistan banks and strengthening of banking sector were discussed.
While declaring support from Afghanistan banks, President Hamid Karzai said, “If anti-money laundering and prevention from aiding terrorism laws are in the benefit of Afghanistan in financial affairs, the laws will soon be approved and ratified.”
President Karzai told officials of Afghanistan banks that financial affairs of the banks should be transparently carried out according to the law and in return the government of Afghanistan would take all steps for supporting the banks so that investment could be absorbed and banking sector and economy strengthened in Afghanistan.
President Hamid Karzai added Afghanistan government was determined to support the country’s banks and strengthen economy of the country.
