KABUL: The World Communication and Information Technology Day was observed by the ministry for communication and information technology yesterday.
In a ceremony attended by minister for economy, some parliamentarians, deputy to ministry for information and culture Ghulam Nabi Farahi, the minister for communication and information technology Amirzai Sangin said in his address that his ministry has made tremendous achievements over the past decade and has provided information and communication services at low cost to the citizens.
The revenue of the ministry for communication and information technology over the past 10 years had been registered 1.334 billion US dollars, minister Sangin said, adding 140,000 people have been working in the field of communication.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy MoIC Ghulam Nabi Farahi noted that the development of communication and information technology in the country was unparalleled over the past decade. He also pointed out that the development of information technology has paved the way for the development of mass media in the country.
Head of the chambers of commerce and industries Mohammad Qurban Haqjo and managers of communication firms also spoke at the ceremony and calling for more investment in the field of communication.
