KABUL: President Hamid Karzai inaugurated the seminar on the 100th birthday anniversary of great Pashto poet Ghani Khan at the hall of national radio and television on Thursday.
In his remarks the president said, “The environment where Ghani had grownup had great impact on his poetry” saying Ghani khan’s poetry is the outcome of the environment where he used to live. His sense, political views, loving life is the outcome of the place he used to live.
Ghani Khan, the president said was a great poet, artist and writer.
“The objectives of Ghani Khan was human loving, education, hating extremism, developing society and had gone to jails for his goals,” the president added.
Ghani was a shining star of Pashto poems, he deserves respects, the president said, adding Ghani Khan should be introduced not only in Afghanistan and Pakistan but in the region and in the world at large.
President Karzai also read some poems of Ghani Khan in the seminar.
The seminar was attended among others by Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen the minister for information and culture, Afzal Khan Lala, Ghani Khan’s grandson Mashal Khan,Afrasiab Khattak, and Zaland Mohmand whom highlighted the dimensions of the late Ghani’s life in their articles.
