Journalists’ supporting commission holds its 1st session

KABUL: With Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen the minister for information and culture on the chair, the first ever meeting of commission to support journalists was held yesterday. According to BNA, the meeting was attended by deputy interior minister Mohammad Ayub Salangi, deputy on publication with the ministry for information and culture Simeen Hasanzada, president of national journalists’ insecurity affairs, association Abdul Hamid Mubariz and officials from the Attorney General Office and national directorate for security head of jouirnalistss and reporters union, Dr. Mohammad Hashem Asmat Ilahi and others. In his speech, Dr. Raheen while touching upon the formation of the commission to support journalists, said that the ministry for information and culture had presented its proposal about formation of commission to support journalists to the president and based on the proposal, the commission with the participation of authorized representatives from the interior ministry, information and culture ministry, Attorney General Office, national directorate for security and two veteran journalists was approved and its first meeting was held yesterday. The aim of the meeting of this commission which is to be held once a month or sooner in emergency cases, Dr. Raheen said, is to review the situation of journalists who are facing violence, insult, beating and even murder.
Dr. Reheen added that today the former cases will be reviewed and the cases which are in ambiguity will be made clear and public, saying all the cases will be reviewed and the outcome will be made public. Later the deputy on publication with the ministry for information and culture presented her report on violations against journalists in 1392 to the meeting. The Kabul Times
