President Karzai announces one day as national mourning

KABUL: For expressing sympathy with the victims of landslide in Bareek Aab village in Argo district of Badakhshan province , president Hamid Karzai by issuing decree announced Sunday as national mourning day. Based on the decree, the national flag remains half mast at home and in Afghanistan’s diplomat missions abroad. However, all Muslim and religious citizens of the country, national traders and aid agencies are requested to assist with the affected people. In the decree, the president also prayed may Almighty Allah rest the departed souls to eternal peace and grant patience to those survived to bear the pain. According to another report, the minister for information and culture Dr. Sayeed Makhdoom Raheen has called upon all visual and audiovisual media outlets to halt airing music on the national mourning day as part of efforts to pay homage to the victims of the natural disaster.
