KABUL: Hamid Karzai the president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has been deeply saddened over the landslide in Argo district of Badakhshan province that has claimed scores of lives and instructed concerned bodies to provide humanitarian assistance and take essential steps for the rescue of those trapped under debris.
Following happening the natural disaster the other day, the president instructed second vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili, defense minister, head of local organs and local officials of Badakhshan province to spare no efforts in assisting the affected people.
A ranking delegation composed of government officials is expected to visit the affected area soon.
The president also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims and also prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the natural disaster. The Kabul Times
