National conference on strengthening of democracy held

KABUL: The National Conference on Strengthening of Democracy with emphasize on role of political and academic elites was held in Kabul yesterday reports BNA adding that this conference was held to improve democracy and role of political elites and implementing of culture of democracy by Afghan Women Legal Services Organization(AWLSO).
At the outset, addressing the conference, Sayed Farhad Ebadi one of the incharges of AWLSO said, this organization has drafted and implemented the program on strengthening of democracy in few sections with emphasize on the role of elites with financial support of Afghanistan Open Society Organization and consultative and technical cooperation of Open Society Consultative and Researches Corporation in the direction of strengthening of culture of democracy and assessment of role f academic and political elites in strengthening of culture of democracy.
In this conference Zia Muballegh acting leader of Afghanistan Open Society Organization, MoD Spokesmen Gen Zahir Azimi, MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqi IEC spokesman Noor Muhammad Noor, Sayed Hashim Amin and Omed Afghan lecturers of Education University, Adbul Samad Mushtaq, university lecturer, Aziz Rafeyee chairman of civil society complex and a number of scholars provided information on what are obstacles ahead of strengthening of democracy, Security challenges ahead of election process, role of civil society in institutionalization of democracy in Afghanistan, role of political elites in democracy process and comparison of democracy with political system of Islam.
