KABUL: The spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs has affirmed that four Afghan citizens had been executed in Asfahan city of Iran due to trafficking drugs.
The affirmation of MoFA comes after media reported that six Afghans had been executed in Iran.
Speaking in a news conference held yesterday, a spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Shekeb Mustaghni said, “After contacting with Afghanistan embassy to Iran, it was cleared that four Afghans have been executed, adding Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its strong protests in this regard and repeatedly asked Iranian officials for changing Afghans’ punishments from executing to life imprisonment.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has been repeatedly asked to deal with transparency in this regard and not to let Afghanistan embassy to know after executing Afghans,” he said.
The spokesman also said we want from Iran to give Afghan prisoners the right of access to consulate services. The Kabul Times
