‘Our efforts are to see other phases of elections successful’, President Karzai

KABUL: Hamid Karzai the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in his biweekly radio speech to the nation described the successful holding presidential and provincial councils’ elections as a valuable step.
In his speech, the president, according to BNA, pointed out that the successful holding of presidential and provincial councils’ elections is another valuable step towards strengthening peace, stability and clear trust of the people to democracy.
With regard to the vast participation of the people in elections, the president said, “With the support of Great God and cooperation of the people the first phase of presidential and provincial councils’ elections was over successfully, and now all our efforts is to see the successful conclusion of the remaining phases of the polls.”
The president also hoped that the final results of the elections be announced as per schedule and the next president and next government to take further steps for the progress, peace, welfare and reconstruction process of the country.
Similarly the president in his speech said that the people hope the independent election commission and the election complaints commission that the next phases of the elections based on the law will be fair to demonstrate the will of the people.
The president also pointed out that we all believe that the candidates respecting the vote of people and accept the legitimate results of the elections so as to allow the country to enter the new phase of stability and trust of people towards democracy.
