KABUL: In a meeting of House of People with Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi on the chair and began by first deputy Sediq Ahmad Usmani, as per agenda minister for defense General Bismillah Mohammadi, minister for interior Mohammad Omar Daudzai and acting chief of national directorate for security (NDS) Rahmatullah Nabil had been questioned about the reason for increase in terrorist attacks recently and preparation for ensuring security during elections. In the beginning the defense min ister briefed the lawmakers about the Taliban massive attack on the post of national army in Ghaziabad district of Kunar province and coordination among the security organs for election security, stressing that the leadership of ensuring security and fighting Taliban are at the hands of Afghan security forces and these forces would fight seriously with the enemies. The defense minister also added that during the operations code name Oqab conducted last year, the security forces carried out 938 planned operations, 498 counter-attacks and 1164 special and night operations. He also added that the enemies in efforts to disrupt the elections didn’t go to Pakistan in the winter, saying the recent security incidents and attacks are the outcome of one year investment of the enemies and the security forces are responding decisively. In his speech about the security situation, the minister for interior said that recent Taliban terrorist attacks in Kabul, although has claimed the lives of civilians and security forces and propagation by Taliban, the Taliban militants had attempted to undermine people’s trust towards elections and the ability of security forces. However, the security forces by foiling the conspiracies of the enemies have proved their ability in fighting the terrorists in all conditions. The acting head of NDS had also briefed the house about the activities of the intelligence personnel activities and their ability in thwarting malicious designs of the terrorists and said that the rate of terrorist activities during this year elections has reduced 33 percent against the elections in 1388. The parliamentarians later put forward their questions about the suicide attacks by Taliban and the measures put in place by the security organs to foil the conspiracies and ensure the security of polling stations and the citizens. Besides praising the courage and bravery of the soldiers and officers of the national army, police and NDS in defending the people, the lawmakers called upon government officials and media outlets to describe the killed personnel of security organs as Shahid or Martyrs.
