KABUL: Afghanistan and Tajikistan by issuing a joint communiqué announced signing five cooperation agreements between the interior ministries of the two countries, on customs, bilateral investments, culture, arts and publications. Both the state-run televisions of the two nations also inked cooperation agreement.
Tajikistan president Imam Ali Rahman at the head of high ranking delegation visited Kabul to attend the Nawroz festival on Thursday and was received at Arg by President Hamid Karzai.
President Hamid Karzai after welcoming Imam Ali Rahman at a joint press conference said both sides besides exchanging views on the situation in the region and world exchanged views on trade, economy, communication, construction of roads and railways between the two countries.
President Karzai added, “Fortunately the relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan have deeply developed over the past 12 years. And that development not only covers the governments but also the people of the two nations.”
In his remarks president Imam Ali Rahman besides congratulating Nawroz to president Karzai and people of Afghanistan said that Nawroz is a good and valuable tradition which was felt during my talks with His Excellency president Hamid Karzai.
The Tajikistan president said that his country wants active role for Afghanistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), adding Tajikistan is the rotary head of SCO this year and would assist Afghanistan to have further role in the body.
President Ali Rahman said that his talks with president Karzai covered further enhancing friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
He also emphasized for implementation of KASA-1000 project and construction of railway between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan which is necessary for boosting economic, trade, education and cultural cooperation and expressed satisfaction over its impact.
President Imam Ali Rahman said in meeting with president Karzai the issue of withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, threats and its impacts on the security, the security of the common borders and farther strengthening cooperation between the military and judicial organs.
It has merit to mention that president Imam Ali Rahman visited Kabul to attend Nawroz festival held in Presidential Palace on Thursday. The Kabul Times
