KABUL: A spokesman for Ministry of Interior says 123 armed insurgents have been killed in Afghan security forces’ operations in the past one week.
Speaking in a news conference held yesterday, spokesman for MoI said, “60 separate operations have been launched in the past one week by Afghan security forces in a number of provinces, resulted in killing 123 armed insurgents, discovering and spoiling 400 mines and seizing 167 kinds of different ammunitions.”
“Security of the elections is in the top priorities of MoI and security of 500 gatherings of presidential candidates has been maintained so far,” Sediqi said.
He added 13000 women had been deployed and under trained by MoI for searching women in polling centers.
Sediqi further said the elections’ materials have been transited to 368 districts by ANP through ground and air.
Related to murder of a Swedish journalist in Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan area of Kabul, Sediqi said crime department of the ministry had started investigations the results of which would be announced later. The MoI spokesman in the news conference also said that necessary preparations had been held by the ministry for maintaining of security during Nawroz International Festival to be held in a few days in Kabul. The Kabul Times
