Govt. wants transparent, just elections: Khalili

KABUL: The vice president Mohammad Karim Khlili has said that government wants to see fair and transparent elections without foreign interference. He made this remarks in a ceremony to mark the 19th martyrdom anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari in Kabul . In the public meeting attended by thousands of people, first the message of president Hamid Karzai was read out by presidential advisor Yusuf Waezi. In his message, the president described the late Mazari as man of thought and action who struggled for the welfare and social justice. In his message the president added that the new system based on democracy and justice is the outcome of the sacrifices of the martyrs especially Shahid Mazari. The president advised presidential candidates to follow the footprint of the martyrs including Shahid Mazari for ensuring of justice and unity.
In his speech the vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili highlighted the personality of Shahid Mazari and condoled the death of late Mazari, the death of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim and the martyrdom of 21 soldiers in Ghazi Abad of Kunar province, to the nation. The objective of Shahid Mazari, he said was to ensure national unity, social justice and sharing of all in the political establishment.
Khalili expressed satisfaction that parts of late Mazari’s objectives including political system through elections had been achieved.
