KABUL: The National Security Council held its meeting with President Hamid Karzai on the chair yesterday where the ministers for defense and interiors presented their reports on the security situation of the country.
In his report, the interior minister said that investigation on arresting 15 persons who had attempted to take weapons from Herat to Badghis with fake documents had found the arrested people were part of the coalition forces and investigation is underway.
In addition to lashing at illegally taking weapons with faked documents, the meeting had called for coordination between the coalition forces and government’s similar bodies in the fields of fighting mines and explosive devices.
The ministers for defense and interior also presented their reports about the air strikes of the coalition forces on police checkpoint in Charkh district of Logar province.
The defense minister said that the air raid was not conducted in the harmony with local troops or at demand of Afghanistan side. Defense minister also added that the coalition forces had apologized for the mistake and promised to assist with the victims’ family.
It was also decided that the security forces particularly the units of the border police force be deployed along the border with Turkmenistan to check smugglers activities and the outlaws.
The National Security Council in the meeting termed the death of Marshal Fahim as a great loss and expressed sympathy with his family.
