US ready to complete reconstruction work of Ekhtyaruddin historic fort

KABUL: US is interested in completion of the third and last phase of Qala-e-Ekhtyaruddin reconstruction.
A finance official for US embassy to Kabul in a meeting with provincial director of information and culture in Herat while declaring the statement said, “Budget has been allocated for completion of the last phase of the project which is expectd to be implemented during the current year.”
In the meeting, provincial director of information and culture pointed out related to further cultural programs in the province and called completion of reconstruction process of Qala-e-Ekhtyaruddin as key for implementation of the programs including holding of festivals and cultural exhibitions.
Mr. Raufyaan says during the current week, the second exhibition of tourism is to be held with cooperation of tourism department in Qala-e-Ekhtyaruddin for strengthening of tourism industry, adding gates of Herat palace will also be opened permanently to people and tourists.
In the meeting, based on suggestion of provincial directorate of information and culture, a plan for holding a regional festival for better maintaining cultural relations between western provinces was agreed and it was determined that the festival would be soon held in future.
Provincial director of information and culture also declared other programs as holding of monthly exhibitions in Qala-e-Ekhtyaruddin by provincial directorate of information and culture, hoping reconstruction work on Herat palace would be soon started and completed. It is worth mentioning that the first and second phase of reconstruction of Qala-e-Ekhtyaruddin had been implemented and completed by US in past years. The Kabul Times
