MAZAR-E-SHARIF: ANA Chief of General Staff participated in a session held in Mazar-e-Sharif with participation of governors and security officials of the country’s Northern provinces. In the session, ANA Chief of General Staff Gen. Shir Mohammad Karimi spoke related to key security challenges in the country’s Northern provinces particularly in Faryab and Badakhshan provinces, stressing on coordination between Afghan security forces for maintaining security of presidential candidates during their campaigns in northern provinces. Gen. Karimi said, “Currently ANA capacity has increased by 95% and their morale is high in fighting, adding 85% of ANA forces have been equipped with heavy and modern weapons.”
It is said that security officials in the session considered cooperation of people as effective enough for maintaining security during the upcoming presidential and provincial council elections.
